iMovie does not only need to be used in media art units. Yes, it is a great tool for students to create their media art but it can also be used for them to create movies in all learning areas. To have an app that could assess students in multiple learning areas would relieve the pressure teachers feel of planning and time to teach. In my classroom, we have assessed students on science, media art, and partial English by using this app and one assessment. Our students created a news report on earthquakes, they needed to have characters, accurate information, and be able to use the lighting, camera angles, camera shots, timing, and sound to affect how the audience views the video. We were able to assess the presentation aspects of the English achievement standard and also give students another opportunity to read data displays from the mathematics achievement standard.
